What Is Asian Handicap Betting
This is a negative Asian line which gives a deprivation with a 0.25 goal to one of the teams before kick-off. The -0.25 AH or 0.0, -0.5 gives you two selections as you see. In other words with this line, you make one bet on two columns – on 0.0 AH and on -0.5 AH. This is a positive Asian line which gives an advance with a 0.75 goal to one of the teams before kick-off. The 0.75 AH or +0.5, +1.0 gives you two selections as you see.
As an example, if you bet ￡20 on +1.75 AH, then ￡10 would be placed on +1.5 AH and the other ￡10 would be put on +2 AH. The half goal Asian handicap again works by giving the underdog an advantage while disadvantaging the favourite. As the name suggests, this is done in half goal increments rather than whole numbers as per the full goal handicap. The weaker team receives a positive half goal head start (+0.5, +1.5, +2.5, +3.5, etc.) and the stronger side is given a negative value (-0.5, -1.5, -2.5, -3.5, etc.).
Also called a half-line Asian total, a half, 1/2, 0.5 goal handicap has two results – win or lose. Therefore, you won’t get money back in the case of a draw. There’s a bigger chance you can still win your bet even if the team you bet on loses the match though it will depend on which type of handicap you bet on.
By backing a +1.5 Handicap you’d win if your team were to win/draw or lose by no more than 1 goal. If they were to lose by 2+ then you’d lose backing a +1.5 Handicap. In this Handicap if you back the -1 then your team has to win by 2 goals to win. If your team were to win by 1 goal then the bet would be voided and the whole stake would return back to your account. This is a pretty safe way of backing the underdogs as they’d have to lose by multiple goals for you to lose.
Now we are going to make a bet on the Underdog team with positive AH, +1.25, let’s say we made the bet for £100 with odds of 2.00 for a return of £ 200. We believe that FC Midtjylland will walk away from this clash as the victors and our estimate that they’ll do so with 2 goals or more in surplus. We therefore bet FC Midtjylland -0.75 (-0.5, -1.0) at odds 2,30 for 100 DKK. This leaves you with either having to bet on the favorites or the underdogs of the match.
A special case is the +0 bet which is equivalent to the draw-no-bet and where a push is given if the match ends with a draw. One team is given an integer and a half goals head start (+0.5, +1.5, +2.5, …) and the opponent is handicapped by the same number of goals (-0.5, -1.5, -2.5, …). The x/10 marks the strength of the tip, the size of the sum worth risking.
